Do you struggle with getting everything you want to do done in a day?

I do.  Always have

I often get asked ” Since you don’t work what do you do with all your spare time?”.

What I have spare time? Is there something that you know that I don’t.

I use to call myself a stay at home mom, which I am, however I am also a work from home mom.  I also operate a custom quilting and heirloom gifts business.

I don’t often have spare time, with that being said I look back a couple years and remember thinking I don’t have the time to workout.  It use to stress me to no end to try and fit in exercise.  Now I workout for at least 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week.  I cant even remember what I have cut out to fit that in.

At the end of 2016 I was feeling like my life was too full.  My plate was too full.  I needed to change something or I was going to crumble. I started to do some research and found some information about time blocking.

Wow what a game changer.  I have Monday to Friday from 8-330 completely time blocked.  During this time I have set up time for housework, meal planning, animal care, exercise, blogging, quilting, groceries, budget, worship and also free time.  The one thing that I have found I love the best about this is that I have so much more free time then I thought I did, Don’t you worry I have lots to fill it with.

This plan is not set in stone, when the farmkids have no school it changes a bit, it also changes when farmpa is home.  I have set it up with enough empty blocks that I can move it around a little so that I can fit friends and unexpected events in.

Even now I sit done to do my time blocking and see a free 15 minutes and want to fill it up, I don’t.  Some times 15 minutes is needed to close my eyes. How did that happen a couple months ago I felt like I didn’t have a spare moment never mind 15 minutes.  The closer that I follow my time blocking the more free time that I have, items don’t pile up, for example cleaning the house for 15 minutes everyday, after a couple weeks you will find that you won’t need 15 minutes.

Another thing that I have started to do to give myself more time is giving the farmkids more responsibilities.  Not only is it benefiting me it is helping them lots.  Trust me its tough as farmpa and I like things done a certain way and have to lower our standards a little.  The farmkids are getting better and complaining far less then they were a month ago.

If you are feeling like there is not enough time in a day.  Stop and sit down and do some time blocking.

This post is moving to the homestead side of me.

Its chick time here.  This week we hatched out 38 mixed breed chicks.

3 weeks ago I placed eggs into the incubator and am happy to announce that 86% hatched.  Fingers crossed more of them are hens than roosters.

These babies are cute little fluffy bums. there is yellow, red and black.  In 6 months they should start laying eggs.  I love being able to provide my family with food that we know where it comes from, love being able to hatch out replacement hens and the sale of eggs, chicks, and older hens is some nice play money.

My eggs range in colour from brown, blue, green, olive green and the odd white one.

Each of the farm kids have their own birds and they decide if they want to breed them or just have them around to enjoy.

Spring at the farm is coming.  Time for more chicks and planning the garden

A few days ago on social media, a health and fitness person did a short video and it made me realize how important our words are.

In this particular post they had stated how their 27 minute 5Km treadmill run was not a respectable time.  These words hurt and I have been stewing over them for several days. That brings me to this blog.

As an individual in the fitness world who post on social media on a regular basis.  I have some to learn how every important my words are.  I have come to learn that many people move their bodies every day because they have watched my journey.  I want to keep motivating and encouraging people.  I don’t want my words to hurt or deter anyone.

If you are out there and you are moving your body for 5km, 10, km or more that is an accomplishment all in its own.  the amount of time that it takes you to do it really is only relative to you.

If you are lifting weights, the amount you are lifting is only relative to you.

If you are out there working towards a healthier more fit you the numbers that go along with that are only important to you.  However if you are out there and trying to win a competition then yes the numbers matter.

It’s a matter of comparing your numbers to someone elses.  If you are highly competitive like I am than seeing and hearing these numbers can be somewhat difficult.  For the most part they continue to push me harder. The odd time they make me think what is the point of trying if my time is no goo anyways.  With that being said when I post about my numbers  I try to make then relative to me and not compare them to anyone elses numbers.  I want to give hope to people that you can get better and faster.

Next time you go and make a post on social media remember no matter how slow you are moving or how light you are lifting there is someone looking at you and thinking wow I want to be like them. Make your numbers about you and only you

So to all of you out there working your butt off and feeling like you are going no where fast.  I am proud of you.  I am cheering for you.  Job well done and keep up the good work.  My advice to all of you is keep track of your workouts and runs so that in the future you can look back and go wow have I ever improved.

This year is a big year for me.

I plan on growing lots, in all sorts or areas.  Health, fitness, family, and mental health.

To do this I am reading lots of books, listening to podcasts and most importantly having a strong community to support me. I call this community my tribe.

I have filled my tribe with women who I value as friends and who I feel have qualities that will not only help me grow, they will help the other women of the tribe to grow.

I have lofty dreams of this tribe helping all of us each goals that we thought we couldn’t reach.  Help people conquer had times in life and make each of us be the best us ever.

It has been tough and I don’t think the struggle of finding the right people is over.  All the people I add have qualities that I love however I think as time goes on I grow they grow and we need to part ways. This doesn’t mean I don’t want to be their friend it just means that I don’t feel like they are helping me grow anymore.

It’s a fairly new concept in the area that I live in and not many understand how it works.

Do you want to grow? Do you want to be the best you possible? Do you want to surround yourself with positive uplifting people?  If yes then please contact me and let’s chat.
